Weekly WAKE UP Call!

Can You Hear me Now?

I love the Verizon wireless television ad where the techie-type guy wanders around testing the cell phone coverage in a wide variety of locations, asking, "Can you hear me now?" You know that the voice on the other end of the phone is saying "YES", because then he responds with "Good."

Each of us has a Voice inside asking us the same question. (He may or may not be wearing glasses!)

You might call it Intuition, God, Spirit, Higher Wisdom, or Divine Guidance. Regardless of what you call it, you're being asked to listen. You're being asked to listen to that wise part of you that knows the real YOU, what you're here to do, and how to do it.

This Voice might guide you to a decision. Or it might tell you you're on the wrong path and out of integrity. Or perhaps it's a lesson from a difficult situation that can help you grow and evolve.

Are You Listening?

Unfortunately, we don't always hear this Voice. Many of us have yet to learn how to tune our"dial" to the right frequency. Or we hear it and ignore it because we're too busy, don't trust it, or we're just plain afraid. Or we hear it and say, "hang on, just a minute!"

Not to worry, though, this Voice is very persistent. It will keep getting louder and louder until we're essentially forced to listen.

Think of a two-year-old that wants to tell you something. She starts with a quiet "Mom," and a tug on your pant leg. If you're still distracted or put her off, she tugs a little harder and says a little louder and firmer: "MOM."

If you have children, you know where this ends up: with a red-faced little girl screaming "MO-O-O-O-O-O-O-OM!!"

In order for the screaming to cease, you have to stop whatever you're doing and say, "you have my full attention; what do you want me to hear?"

Wake Up and Be Still

Waking Up requires that we be still and listen to this Voice. And it's nice to learn how to hear it before it starts screaming at us!

Many find that prayer, meditation, or other forms of quiet reflection help them tune into their own Voice. Others might find that exercise or activity helps clear away the head gunk and fears that prevents them from listening.

How do you tune in to and listen to this Voice? Do you want to hear it more clearly or pay better attention to it? Do you want to trust it more completely? Luckily, there's always room for improvement!

Remember the definition of "WAKING UP": Choosing more loving thoughts, words and actions TODAY than you did yesterday.

That's all you have to do to WAKE UP and stay on your own path from Fear to Love.

Here's your WAKE UP CALL TO ACTION:

Choose just ONE THING you can do today that will help you move in the direction of hearing and trusting your own Voice better.

Is that praying or meditating for 10 minutes? For just 5 minutes?

Do you want to start your day tomorrow with soft music and setting intentions for the day?

The important thing to remember is to do whatever works for YOU. Keep trying new things until you find a way to tune your dial to your right frequency. Be as persistent as an ignored two-year-old.

Then, when the Voice asks, "Can you hear me now?" you can answer "YES!" And the Voice can respond, "GOOD!"
